Geothermal energy has an enormous potential as a renewable energy source. Although currently in its early stages, it is expected that geothermal will play an important role in the shift towards a fossil-free society. The regions of Tuscany, Scotland, Cleantech Region and Arnhem Nijmegen, along with other European regions have established the S3 Partnership for Geothermal Energy 2.0 (EuGeoReg), a transnational European S3 partnership to further develop geothermal techniques,
share knowledge and work with the European Commission on common challenges in the field of geothermal energy. In order to kick off the S3 collaboration, this workshop will highlight best practices and technical and social issues concerning geothermal drilling and explore possibilities to collaborate in the future.
